OBE and FUBAR is a couple of my favorite sayings from the military. There are a few others but I think they would not work well in a game.
I kind of figured there was a possibility of roaming bands but was hoping that they would be out of the area. Either way Cratol is no where close to assisting.
Indeed, there's also a Schrodinger's Half-Drow lurking about. She is both there and not there until observed.
It looks to me like Brandonfett is missing from both games he's involved in, has anyone heard from him in the past few days?
And Kn's post reminds me, since Cratol has had a chance to talk with several people about his experiences, experienced NPCs included, I'll assume some level of success with Nature & History checks.
The worm thing was a Grick, a burrowing ambush predator, though the beak is a larger specimen than any Tolman has seen. The eight legged lizard Cratol wisely didn't disturb is a Basilisk, a creature that feeds on flesh it has petrified with its gaze. Fortunately, it is known both for being quite sluggish, and for sleeping for months at a time. The settlement you described appears to have been inhabited by Kuotoa, degenerate and usually evil fishlike humanoids known for worshiping dark demigods. The frog creatures with eyes like a car's headlights though… no one seems sure what their story is.

The headlight description just now was for the player's benefit rather than in character. this world doesn't have a good analogue, so…
In any case, as to your inquiry in the Top Poster thread. Click on Fay's or Ildrahil's character sheet and scroll down until you see the image of a Gem. You can activate one there. The results are subject to Dungeon Master fiat, as is whether or not the gems are allowed in the first place. But both Kntoran and I allow the things in our respective games
Bear in mind that the gems cost a significant amount of FP, though it seems you have plenty of that to spare.
There are 3 levels of gems, each more powerful than the last, but bear in mind there is a chance of the gem having a negative impact.
