Are Paranormal Investigators Scam Artists?

Comments: I've seen shows about so called paranormal investigators but it all looks like theatrics to me, how can people believe in this stuff?
While I think there might be some genuine interest in the beyond there are those who know there is money to be made from people's curiosity or hope and because of that they want to 'milk the cow' for all they can get!
I very much believe that many paranormal investigators could very well fall under what we call scam artists, yes I also believe that at least a few do it out of a genuine thirst for understanding the supernatural and paranormal around them.
A few I believe even have actual talent or ability when it comes to perceiving the hidden in the world around them. Admittedly, I believe that the majority of these gifted few do not go on TV or do not try to make a name for themselves in media. No instead I think most of them just want to be left alone or keep such things secret given how others might react or think.
What we see on TV, yes more likely than not the majority of it is theatrics and tricks.
Still, there could still be merit to such shows mattering whether or not the facts/history they presented about a place or location is true. If such isn't made up whole cloth, I do believe that learning about the places are locations discussed is actually very interesting.
