I know that this is a big monument and iconic for the area, but the guy didn't do any actual damage, he just hung some tarps and sheets up on the sign to make it read Hollyweed instead of Hollywood. It was easy enough to fix and kind of funny (I guess, even though I don't particularly think so), I don't really see the harm in this. I understand he still broke the law and will have to serve time, but I think the judge should be lenient and give him the minimum. The man didn't cost the tax-payers more than whatever time it took to go and collect the stuff off the sign (Which couldn't have been more than an hour tops) and the sign is now back to normal.
