Woman sentenced in anti-fur rampage
A woman who went on a cross-country anti-fur rampage with her boyfriend was sentenced to 21 months in prison, three months longer than prosecutors recommended. Nicole Kissane's spree included vandalizing a fur store and releasing mink. Ref. Source 1z.
If you want to make a point there is a way better way to go about it than looking like a vandal that was on drugs plus you get to stay away from big fines, being sued and jail time!

This kind of ties in to the demonstrations in DC. Peaceful demonstrations are our right. But destroying other peoples' property isn't the way to do things. I feel like we've gotten to the point in this country where we can't talk to each other and I'm afraid it's because of things like Fox News, MSNBC, and the internet. They solidify the feelings of people on one side or the other and inhibit the ability to discuss rationally with each other. Both on the right and the left they twist the truth just enough to make it impossible to discuss things rationally. President Obama talked about this and he is correct.
It really seems like people have forgotten how to reach compromises these days. Either they care about something enough to fight for it, and ignore peaceful and/or legal options. Or they don't have strong feelings about it, and do absolutely nothing…
I have to say, I've never been a fan of the modern fur industry (Nor for that matter any other fashion industry that compromises ethics for useless frippery), but petty vandalism doesn't help matters.
I think she should have gotten a longer prison term. I think it is beyond time to teach people there will be a severe reaction to them acting like a brat. Remember the saying you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. Peaceful protests speak much louder than people throwing a tantrum and destroying things.
