Study Finds Links Between Swearing And Honesty

I think this article is really cool. I can see that people at least perceive swearing and honesty to be positively correlated because most people will only resort to cursing when they feel extremely sure and passionate about the topic they are discussing. It is very hard to represent yourself as a passionate person, if you are not in fact passionate about the topic, and most people do not have passionate feelings about topics in which they are trying to deceive you. I do think a caveat needs to be made that just because you are being genuine and fully believe what you are saying, it doesn't mean that you are speaking the truth. There is an example of Donald Trump being perceived as more genuine because he uses swears in his speeches, but it is well known that he makes up facts and statistics to support his point of view. There is no doubt he is being genuine and feels passionately about the topics he is discussing, he is just grossly misinformed about a number of topics and takes liberties with make statements that are just not true to back up what he is saying.

Honesty Swearing Links Finds Study

I don't see the link between the two. When I hear someone swearing a lot I think they don't have much of a vocabulary. I don't think they are more honest. Most of society curses quite a bit now so I just don't get this. It has nothing to do with them not holding anything back. It's just the way they talk. Donald Trump makes up facts but so does pretty much any politician. There is no honesty in politics.
