I have lived here for about a year when I was about 9-10 years old and I must say that I enjoyed my stay. If I could, I would really want to move back there one day, but not to Salt Lake City.

Utah History & Civil Business Politics

There are areas in Salt Lake City that are dangerous to live, but in general the people are good, but as in all areas of the country there are your dishonest as well as honest. Usually the smaller the town the more honest the people. In real small towns everybody knows what everybody does and who they are. The cities are getting bigger and bigger I loved the quaint citys of the 50's where the laws weren't so strict and the fun was everywhere.

EDITORIAL: FUND THE ARTS IN OREM

Doctors check a patient's vital signs to see if he's healthy. Outsiders check the vital signs to see if a community is healthy. And three of those vital signs are the vibrancy of the arts, the quality of recreation and the pleasantness of the parks.

Utah used to be a place where you could leave your front door open and feel safe, walk casually down the street and feel free, but now crime seems to be growing at phenomenal rate, in fact it seems that the influence of the local culture and traditions have been influenced heavily by outside sources to the point that people's lives are changing drastically.

EDITORIAL: AN 'AGGRAVATING' FACTOR

Rep. David Litvack is taking a new tack on hate crimes in Utah. In the upcoming session of the state Legislature, the Salt Lake Democrat will sponsor legislation that would enable judges and the Board of Pardons and Parole to consider whether the offender's actions included specific aggravating factors that pose harm to the community.

Fighting against suicide

The suicide rate in Utah for males is the highest in the nation. And, once more, the suicide rate in the Intermountain area is much higher than the nation as a whole. Nationwide, suicide is the third-leading cause of death for youths 15 to 24. The numbers alone justify multiple efforts to raise awareness and reduce the incidence of suicide in Utah.

UTAHNS FAVOR PROVO-S.L. RAIL, WILLING TO PAY

EDITORIAL: UTAH IS WHAT IT IS

In this era of `branding,` product placement and public relations, some souls in Utah are fretting about the state's image. Inside the state, one finds people who would like to see the state shed its stodgy reputation and spike the punch with more nightlife and bohemian bliss. Outside of Utah, according to a new survey, some businesses are skittish about coming to the state because of the state's size, location and `Mormon influence.`
