Litter levels in the depths of the Arctic are on the rise

The Arctic has a serious litter problem: in just 10 years, the concentration of marine litter at a deep-sea station in the Arctic Ocean has risen 20-fold, according to researchers. Ref. Source 5k.

Issues Environmental Arctic

I wonder if some of this litter is coming to them via the currents through out the ocean. The fact that humans feel the ocean is a land fill does not help the litter issue at all. I also think it could have to deal with all the increased fascination with crab harvesting.
