Reader, let it be known that Jolsco t'Good was a man of his times like all men.
His nature was good and his heart desired justice and fairness.
His journey through life was shaped at his mother's hand - and her love, values and aspirations shaped the young man he grew into.
He was blessed much but was also troubled to live a life of worth - to make a meaningful contribution. He strove for knowledge with a desire to remain humble and a pursuit for wisdom.
Success is defined not from your victories but from your efforts to fight for the right causes in life ... and to enjoy and love and smile every day.

Meeting Sabe ...
It was during my initial period of employment as a stonemason in the Town - shortly after I had arrived - that I first saw Sabe.
She had an elegant and striking appearance which made her hard not to notice.
She seemed out of place at our work site but her visits were brief and she did not appear to talk with anyone from what I saw of her there.
I reasoned that she must belong to one of the Town's wealthier families - and assumed that the work we were carrying out was either a property that they owned or one which was being patronised by them.
I felt her scrutinising my work occasionally but never thought it was appropriate to strike up a conversation.
Towards the end of that month's work she appeared less frequently at the site - and I must admit I started to look out for her reappearance and felt a strange anxiety for her return.
When she eventually visited the site again she seemed to fix me with a determined stare before what I interpreted to be a knowing smile crept slowly to her face. It puzzled me. Later that evening I determined that on the next occasion I would introduce myself and try to discover who she was.
During a break in our work a few days later I headed to a quiet spot I had found near the site. It was just a few trees with an overgrown but pleasant clearing - offering a small piece of seclusion from the usual disturbances.
Sabe was siting there when I arrived, apparently waiting for me ...
"Good day to you master Jolsco, please come and join me ... My name is Sabe. I suppose you have been wondering about me and why I have been ... ?"
"Indeed fair lady - I have seen you several times at the site these past weeks ... "
"Sabe, you may call me Sabe, and I have been watching over you for a lot longer than these past few weeks."
"How so?"
"Come sit down and I will explain ... "
Our talk was a complete revelation, She had known about me for many years and had been following my progress unbeknown to me. She did indeed belong to one of the Town's wealthier families and although educated she spoke to me with a down to earth manner which made it easy to warm to her.
She was well travelled too - and as it turned out had met my father. He had spent time as part of a military escort on one of her family's travels. I knew of my father's military career but had not met many people who had known him. He had made an particularly enduring impression on her one day when the family was targeted late at night by a gang of desperate thieves on an isolated stretch of road.
The escort was tired and had not spotted the gang tracking their movements. When their ambush was set the thieves attempted to distract the escort into a melee leaving the coach unguarded. But my father had anticipated the need to remain with the family and had managed to assist the coach man to make good an escape.
He was injured in this incident and was unable to continue with his active military career. Instead Sabe's father employed him as the family's head of security. Sabe had got to know him well during this time and had known about my mother and I.
When my father died suddenly, Sabe made it her business to visit my mother - and had been watching my development from early childhood. She had known of my mother's recent passing and could sense my sorrow.
"Well - you are alone no more Jolsco ... I sense that you have good heart and a desire to make a mark in this Town - if you need some advice along the way ... "
Reflections on your mother
Reflections on my mother ...
I go to sleep thinking about the day and these past weeks.
Mother is no longer here with me in body to guide and support - but she remains here with me in my heart and in the love I hold for her.
She protected me with her love and instilled in me the values that made her such a wonderful human being. She taught me the value of life and that life is valuable. I hope to live my life in a way that would please her - would make her happy - and to share in those happy thoughts.
Her smile and laugh shines through and bids me to sleep well and rise to find a bright new day.
I miss her but am strengthened by her memory.
Her ways were simple on the surface - but I still wonder at that. How she was always so devoted and looked at the positive in all situations. How she was so natural at bringing joy to others - as if that was her purpose in life - the essence of her being. I reflect on the blessing of knowing such a person, of bathing in its warmth and the comfort from the thought that I was raised and nurtured in that love.
When I make mistakes and feel ashamed, I can reflect on her spirit and remind myself that I was born from that same spirit and so take resolve to rise up and be a better man - a gift that lasts beyond the physical.
To be happy. To learn from your mistakes. To be a jolly scholar of life! x.
