Alleged text messages point to possible influence that President Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort had with Ukraine’s President during turmoil there in 2014, a human rights attorney says.
“You know he has killed people in Ukraine? Knowingly,” Paul Manafort's daughter Andrea allegedly wrote of her father in March 2015 in a series of texts to her sister about her father’s personal and professional life.
“Remember when there were all those deaths taking place. A while back. About a year ago. Revolts and what not,” Andrea allegedly wrote in reference to mass police shootings in Kiev.
Manafort has not been linked to the shootings.
On Thursday, Ukrainian human rights lawyer Eugenia Zakrevska filed a motion in Kiev requesting that prosecutors verify the contents of the text messages and take measures to compel US authorities to question Manafort. Ref. CNN.

Former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort met behind closed doors this morning with the Senate intelligence committee, Manafort's spokesman Jason Maloni told CNN, as a separate Senate committee announced it has subpoenaed him.
The Senate intelligence committee is one of several congressional panels investigating Russian interference in the US election last year. Another is the Senate judiciary committee, which has sought testimony from Manafort and President Donald Trump's eldest son Donald Jr.
Senate judiciary committee chairman Chuck Grassley and the top Democrat on the panel, Dianne Feinstein, issued a joint statement Tuesday saying that Manafort had been subpoenaed after the top members of the committee were "Unable to reach an agreement for a voluntary transcribed interview." And yet again, drip. If this administration had just come clean the day they assumed power things would be so much different and so much better for them. They have mismanaged a lot. That said, I'm sure they'll get wiser as time goes on.
FBI searches home of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort. Manafort has been a subject of a longstanding FBI investigation into his dealings in Ukraine and work for the country's former president, Viktor Yanukovych. US investigators wiretapped former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort under secret court orders before and after the election, sources tell CNN, an extraordinary step involving a high-ranking campaign official now at the center of the Russia meddling probe.
The government snooping continued into early this year, including a period when Manafort was known to talk to President Donald Trump.
Some of the intelligence collected includes communications that sparked concerns among investigators that Manafort had encouraged the Russians to help with the campaign, according to three sources familiar with the investigation. Two of these sources, however, cautioned that the evidence is not conclusive.

Ex-Trump adviser Paul Manafort conspired to mislead bankruptcy court, son-in-law charges. As federal authorities investigate former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort's controversial ties to Russia, his estranged son-in-law is accusing him of conspiring to mislead a federal bankruptcy court about real estate investments. Jeffrey Yohai made the allegation on Sept. 28, in a case that centers on four troubled California real estate investments that collectively total millions of dollars. Manafort's daughter, Jessica, filed for divorce from Yohai in March. The accusations come as special counsel Robert Mueller continues his investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible collusion by Moscow with Trump associates. Manafort has been a central figure in that investigation. Ref. USAToday.
Former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort charged in special counsel probe, told to surrender to feds. President Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, along with his former business associate Rick Gates, are the first to be charged in a special counsel's investigation, The New York Times reported on Monday. Manafort and Gates were told to surrender to authorities on Monday morning, a person involved in the case told The Times. Special counsel Robert Mueller has been investigating Manafort, who resigned as Trump's campaign chairman in August 2016, for his financial ties to a pro-Russia party in Ukraine.
