Mueller: Paul Manafort lied about contacts with Trump administration this year. Special counsel Robert Mueller's team said Friday that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort lied on five major issues after agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors, including his "Contact with administration officials."
In a heavily-redacted document released Friday, Mueller's team also said Manafort lied about his interactions with Konstantin Kilimnik, his Russian associate who Mueller has said has ties to the Russian military intelligence unit accused of hacking the Democrats, and how they may have worked together to tamper with witnesses following Manafort's arrest last year.
The investigators say they have evidence about electronic communications related to Kilimnik and travel records. Much of the details the prosecutors released to the court Friday were redacted in the public version of the document. Ref. CNN.
Federal judge says former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort lied to the FBI. U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled Wednesday that Manafort violated his plea agreement when he provided misleading information to the FBI and special counsel Robert Mueller. Manafort promised to cooperate with Mueller's investigation in exchange for a reduced sentence. The judge said that deal is off. Ref. USAToday.
Ex-Trump campaign chief Paul Manafort will spend nearly four years in prison for bank, tax crimes. Paul Manafort was sentenced on Thursday by a federal judge in Virginia, where a jury last summer found him guilty of tax and bank fraud charges related to years of illicit lobbying work. It was a dramatic fall for the longtime political operative who helped guide Donald Trump to the presidency. And it’s not over: He faces another decade in prison when he is sentenced in a related case next week in Washington. Ref. USAToday.
I am content to know that this is the beginning of justice served. I am also hopeful about the message this sends… if you try to get someone into office the wrong way then you will pay the price for it.

Leftism Makes People Meaner: Reflections on the Torture of Paul Manafort. The sadistic treatment of Paul Manafort illustrates something I have believed since I attended graduate school in the 1970s and saw the behavior of left-wing students: Leftism makes people meaner. There are kind and mean conservatives and kind and mean liberals. Neither liberalism nor conservatism… Source 4n.

Meanwhile, there are so many people in the corrections system that either shouldn't be there, or has no violent offenses and still shouldn't be there. Rich people are frustrating.
