(AP) - The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal in Lake Charles has upheld the conviction and 10-year prison term of Emily Bryant Clement, whom authorities said tried to hire someone to kill a woman who won a malpractice suit against Clement's husband. Clement had given up her right to trial by jury and stood trial in May 2006 in front of Judge David Ritchie, who found her guilty of a charge of solicitation for murder and sentenced her to 10 years in prison. During the trial Assistant Attorney General David Caldwell claimed Clement tried to hire 5-time convicted felon Daniel LaBauve to kill Wendy Funk on May 26, 2003, a day or two before a $592,000 malpractice judgment against Clement's husband was to become due. The judgment, with interest, was said to be worth more than $1 million.... Source 3m

Killer Hiring Clement Bryant Emily
It is interesting that someone who has money or access to a lot of money will do or think they can do just because they have money. I am not surprised that someone would try this as it has been tried many times by those who thought they were above the law due to their money.
