What are some of your Mormon goals for the new year 2017?

My goal for 2017 is to fully read both the Bible and Book of Mormon, though what may help in this is audi books perhaps.

Given my falling out with the church for several years and my recent comeback to the gospel, relearning what I used to know/do know sounds like a good place to start. When I was a child I did not have the same kind of inference and experience I have now, and even the Word of Wisdom is different to me. For example I saw it before as a set of rules preventing me from doing certain things, but my knowledge as an adult tells me that it is there to help guide away from choices that may harm us. In fact, much of what the gospel teaches us is to help us be happy and healthy and make decisions we won't regret. I've wondered if I would have had this outlook if it weren't for the negative experiences I've had, but I suppose that really is the point of parenting - to teach our children so they don't have to make our mistakes.
