Saudi Arabia pivots to China:
His visit to Beijing unfolded amid worsening relations between Washington and the kingdom that has-since 1945-constituted an essential prop of US imperialism in the region and a bulwark of reaction and repression in the Arab world. Ref. Source 9a.
So, as I read the article I had to look at the site. The World Socialist Web Site might be a site that tilts a bit against the US and has a certain slant on the news. What they see is a tilt is nothing but the normal diplomatic dealings of a country. The worsening relations have actually improved considerably since President Trumps election. And the way that they characterize Saudi Arabia as helping US imperialism is about as far from reality as can be. We are not imperialist. We may push countries to act in our best interests, but all countries do. I would venture to say of all the world powers there ever were, we are probably the most conservative with our strength. Had Rome, Spain, England, or Germany had the power we have, especially right after the fall of the USSR when we were truly the sole superpower, they'd have used it much more liberally.
