TS Eliot was a great one, of course its up in the air if he should be considered American or British.
Henry Austin Dobson was another one, I think the one I like the most is "The Paradox of Time", Alas, time stays - we go.
Robert Frost, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe.
Charles ES Wood, The Poet in the Desert, is one of my favorites.
Poetry USA
Poe was a good one, although a lot of his work was a bit dark. Thankfully, this is my favorite kind of poetry. Another US poet that I love the work of is Maya Angelou. Her style is simple, but there is so much power behind her words.
