Is Ground Water Safe To Drink?
Is it safe to drink from water in the ground?
11 percent of disappearing groundwater used to grow internationally traded food
Eleven percent of the global non-renewable groundwater drawn up for irrigation goes to produce crops that are then traded on the international market, new research concludes. Ref. Source 2w.
Some ground water is very safe to drink but it also depends on the environment you are in. If you are in a highly industrial place I would have to say no. Where as even in some highly rural places it is not safe either due to the high mounts of chemicals farms tend to use. Now if you are in a natural serene unpopulated area the chances are the ground water could be very safe to drink.
Yes, agreed with what KN said. I will add one more thing to what he said though. You should still either use water purification pills, which taste nasty, or you should boil it for one to two minutes. Even in a natural setting there may be microscopic organisms that could make you sick. Boiling the water will take care of that.
You can build a quick and easy water filter that will filter any water you come across. All you need is gravel, sand and activated charcoal. If you let the water go through the three filters starting with gravel then to sand and finally activated charcoal you will have drinkable water from any source. The nice thing about this is it is all natural and reusable. For those who are survivalists it is easy to make one for you home using 5 gallon buckets.
Ground or tap, getting a good filtration system is for the best. Whether or not one wishes to build a system themselves.
And no, I'm not talking about Brita and the like, they're decent, but well overpriced for what you're getting. At the same price you can get a set of good ceramic filters that both work better and last longer. The ones I have are rated for more than 20,000 liters, while the equivalent Brita setup gets only 150.
