President Obama marks 50th anniversary of Civil Rights Act at LBJ Library at 12:30 p.m. ET [10 April, 2014.

Obama, along with Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, have converged at the Lyndon B. Johnson Library in Texas to commemorate the historic act, as well as the decades-long movement that spurred its signing. Ref. CNN

Federal appeals court rules 1964 Civil Rights Act also protects LGBT employees from workplace discrimination

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago ruled Tuesday that the 1964 Civil Rights Act also protects LGBT employees from workplace discrimination, the first time a federal appellate court has come to that conclusion. Ref. USAToday.

Yes, as it should. We shouldn't discriminate for any reason, be it race, religion, nationality, or even sexual orientation. This is a good ruling.

But people and employers do discriminate due to your obesity. IF you are over weight it can cost you at work. Plus political beliefs too.

Yes, they discriminate for all sorts of reasons but the Civil Rights Act should protect you. I've conducted hundreds of interviews and there are many dos and don't our HR briefs me on every time. If someone is discriminated on for weight or political beliefs they have a case.
