Researchers review progress of treating glutamate signalling in depression

I am glad that they have found a drug that may combat this disorder. I am sure there are many who will not mention this disorder to medical professionals. Knowing there is hope and help out there can be a good thing.

Disorder Depressive Major

In my experience and the experience of my mother/others I know, if you are diagnosed with MDD doctors will usually prescribe citalopram (Celexa), which is fast-acting and only takes a couple of weeks to take effect, as opposed to several months.

In mine and my mom's case it made us very foggy, counteracted most emotions, and basically just made me feel like a zombie. I've wondered before if a 'fast-acting' antidepressant is just going to have this effect because of the sudden change in brain chemistry.
