I love this! Here is a go at rating myself.
Strength: 8 I'm not weak but I know as an average female I'm toward the bottom of this scale.
Dexterity: 15
Con: 9. I get sick a lot.
Int: 13. I might be stretching it.
Wisdom: 6. Seriously. I have made a few bad decisions.
Charisma: 16
You don't have to play a game like this. How about when you join a new roleplaying game make the character as close as possible to your self ratings. You were magically teleported from wherever you live in the year 2017 to the location of the Dungeons & Dragons game. You have powers but are unsure how and don't understand how they work. You could tell your part members " you will never believe this but I'm from a place called Colorado etc in the year 2017. " There would be some hilarious things to roleplay through.

Here are the stats that were given to me by my friends when I was in college. I know some of them have changed since then.
Strength: 16
Dexterity: 14
Constitution: 14
Intelligence: 12
Wisdom: 11
Charisma: 13
I was told by the female members of our group I was very handsome *smile*
Yes that would be a interesting scenario Kyrroeth.
Kyrroeth,
I think that is an incredible idea for a game… a party of people plunked down somewhere where magic works. All learning about their world together. Or heck, transported through some fluke happening to the world they were playing so they have some knowledge, but with a few twists.
This is where it gets sticky. Everyone will have different opinions. I vote 5e as well though. My favorite version of Dungeons & Dragons so far.
I would not mind 5E we would just need a Dungeon Master that can do it. I am not very familiar with 5E to Dungeon Master.
