Its not easy on our end either, we don't really know you, and any attempt not to be too generous can go the other way pretty quickly. Same goes for attempts not to be stingy. But in any case, once the others give their input, Kn will posit the final numbers.
While he's doing that, what manner of class do you think reflects you most? I ended up going with artificer myself, as I'm constantly making stuff anyways, and I'd be hard pressed not to try making magic stuff in such a situation.
All books are allowed until KN says it isn't, so don't be afraid to pull out something weird like Factotum.
Also, you can pick a race other than human if you strongly identify with its features. The rest of us decided to keep it simple and stay human, but the option is there.

Considering the premise of the game is me as a transported character, I can't see a valid reason how I'd become another race. Except maybe an elf? I dunno.
I'll have to explore the classes and see what seems close to my skillsets, since Jack of Trades doesn't exist, right?
The stats as far as I'm concerned are not too important, except as needed to qualify for a class.
Yes you will be playing yourself so some things may not be available to you like Elf or Dwarf right now. So you will still come in as a human. That does not mean you will stay that way *smile* Oh you will be coming in with no equipment and just the clothes on your back.
Honestly, I can't see a class that encompasses what I need. I've some Ranger talents, some Artificer talents, some Monk talents. I'd totally see myself trying magic as per wizard or bard (I'm an amateur poet, write and sing very well, but don't play anything other than drums), just from personal inclination, to see if I could make things happen that way, but not deific magic as that would go against my actual religion, unless the Jewish God is somehow available in the new realm. Mutliclass? *snort*.
If a jack of trades is what you're looking for, the factotum class I mentioned before? That term is actually used in its fluff description. Its a little magic, and a little fighter, and every single skill is a class skill, among other things.
It's a high brainpower class that can do a little of everything and do it moderately well, but is not as strong in a single field as a specialist of that field
Take a look, its in Dungeonscape.
We will wait to see what Thomas says and then go from there. Mean while with the rules of this game we will need you real name here. You can post this when you make you character sheet so not hurry. Take your time on the character class you wish the be. IF you can not think of one that may fit you best ask the others they can give you some to look at.
Daishan, I'd never heard of that class, and I just read it through. It looks pretty appropriate, so I think I'll go with that one.
Kntoran, Do I start at level 1 or 3, and considering I typically have a multitool, a pen, & a few usb keys on me, do those come across?
