I smile at Rachel and ask, "Would you like to grab something to eat Rachel?" I look at Ghost, "You too Ghost." Then I look at Thomas and Jason, "We should leave these two to their planning. Don't forget to send us invitations to the wedding."
Looking for Jason, I'll start by asking the obvious question, "So let's start by getting the reasons why you don't want to pursue a relationship with her. Yes, perhaps it should be fairly obvious but I want you to explain it in your own words." Better to have him explain way then for me to just assume.
Continuing I will offer, "Also keeping in mind while she may be considered young among her kin, I believe she'd be older than any of us. It may not make a difference, but it is a point to consider." Mainly, while I was willing to talk to her, I'd prefer not just making things up and actually give her the reasons why Jason doesn't return her affection.

I sigh, "This got complicated really quickly. I didn't notice right off the cues that her interest in me was principally romantic in nature. Scratch that, I didn't really notice at all, it had to be pointed out to me."
"I am more than a little reluctant to simply rebuff her, I hate causing pain. More than that, having something to do and being with me seems to be helping a great deal in regards to dealing with the ordeal we found her in."
Tapping my fingers on the anvil I continue, "But I don't know her well enough for returning her feelings to even be on the table. We met only a few weeks ago, and it hasn't even been a week since we started being able to talk to each other clearly. Then there's the more obvious question of age. She's around three times as old as I am, and yet developmentally young enough to be a minor by our culture's standards, if not for much longer. I get the impression that starting such a relationship wouldn't be the legal and social problem it would be back home, and ethically, she is far past the age of reason. But it is still weird."
"All that aside, I do like what I know of her. She seems like a good friend. She also does good work, and I started thinking of getting an apprentice for a reason. What I need is time, for her to slow down and get to actually know who I am rather than just throwing herself at this rescuer of hers who she hardly knows. Maybe this crush of hers fades, maybe it grows into something more solid, maybe over time I even start to return the feelings. But she's bound to hurt herself as is. If I could just get her to think of this relationship as a close friendship for now, that would work. I'm just not sure how to get there."

Rachel, Ghost and Dennis head towards the the main stronghold to get some food in the dining hall leaving Thomas and Jason to talk. Mean while Qwantithalica is talking among the other older Elf adolescents about a new possible quest that they are all going on. They all start to gather their items together so they will be ready to go. Once She tells them it will be tomorrow they work on making sure they have their backpacks packed up and ready to go. They all head to the dining hall to get some nourishment.
"That fact that you're willing to allow a friendship to grow between you, and are at least potentially open for something more developing will help I believe," Came my reply after I heard him explain things, before continuing as I offer, "Though I can understand the idea being a little weird, given how differently elves age."
After a moment I will offer this consideration as well, "Though there may be some concern even with just a friendship, if you're going to be taking her on as an apprentice. As this will make you something of an instructor." This part I felt though might not be too big of an issue, matterings one's perspective.
Continuing though again, I will be going over a few of the things I knew were important when it came to letting one down as I say, "You'll need to decide when and where you'd want us to talk to her about this, where she feel most comfortable. And while I will be the one talking with her, it's important that you take responsibility for the situation and be there as we discuss things."
Looking to Jason, I continue saying after a moment if pause, "When we talk about this, its important to be open, honest, and direct while sensitive to how she will feel. At least in probably being disappointed or even perhaps confused given how long it took you to figure out her growing attachment. Also, making sure she understands why you want to talk without too many words mudding things up." Those are the major things I believed needed to be kept in mind, though there could be a few other things they could discuss as well and how they're going to handle it.
There was one other thought though, and I'll say, "Lord Douglas' wife is an elf isn't she, or another servant? We should probably talk to someone who'd be able to explain elven culture when it comes to romance, courtship, and relationships." It'd be better not to go in blind and say the wrong thing.

I'm quick to shake my head, "Not her, that incident with Dennis was a little much. Lywenta perhaps, she is generally in charge of the young ones, and is already aware of the situation. Actually, she's the one who finally pointed out the obvious to me."
"In any case, we'll need to think about it for a bit. For more immediate concerns, how does that armor fit? Do I need to make any adjustments?"
Answering the question I will say, "It fits well, I haven't had any issue with the mithril armor so far." It was amazing how light the armor was and surprised how comfortably it fit.
Though after a moment's pause and consideration I will add, "Personally I think you're a little crazy, as while I can understand your perspective I wouldn't be so quick to say no to the situation myself." I can respect Jason showing such consideration for the elf girl.
