"That is Commander my friend", She smiles. "Not having been down there I think that you know more of what is down there than I do. If the creatures are cutting off your exit that means they are moving about and using their dark vision to their advantage. You needing torches leaves a glow in the corridors. Announcing your position. Now if you could have a scout that can see them before they see you you may have more of an advantage. But no one has dark vision here."
Lywenta speaks up. Give me a day and I will check on seeing if there is a way we can over come the dark vision issue. I make no promises however."
I step forward and bow slightly "Lord, the added fighters will be the best part of your boons. We are too few and too juicy a target otherwise. Also, our lack of strong offensive magics make this more difficult, but we'll make do. Thank you." I step back again, appearing content.
I kept quiet up to this point, wondering how or if I should even say what actually on my mind. Yet with a sigh, I will look to Lord Douglas and say, "Sir, while your willingness to provide us with some additional resources and back up by way of a handful of guards is appreciated… there's still the question of what we are to you." Understanding that I could very well get in trouble for this, I will pause a moment.
Continuing with some hesitation, I will ask, "Are we pawns, mere players in some game you have setup for us? Where our lives mean little that you allow one of us to go into the tunnels by herself without support?" I knew what I was doing, that I was accusing the one that had been our benefactor up to this point. Yet that didn't matter as much as getting an explanation.
Out of Character: My apologies if this brings trouble, but I honestly wouldn't be able to see myself just stand by and not ask… and given how I do not have quite the finesse in social interaction, I would most likely be blunt or to the point.

I listen as the questions and answers go back and forth. Hearing Thomas ask his questions I grimace. Out of all the people here why is he the one asking this? He already almost got me killed before. I look at Jason with great concern on my face.
Suddenly angry, I'm on my feet and facing the bard, "Thomas, shut the flying f**k up, right now."
"My lord, I am sorry, tensions are a little high since we saw what Rachel endured. I had no idea he'd intended to air such a ridiculous notion. Please allow me to deal with this."

"He should have never allowed Rachel go by herself," I argue with Jason, not ready to back down, "Those hobgoblons beat the crap out of Rachel, she is lucky to be alive! Lord Douglas was the only one who knew, he allowed Rachel to go into the tunnels by herself… We can't just pretend this never happened!" Even if he locked me up, this had to be talked about I felt.

The Lord stands up and looks to Thomas, "If you feel that your lives mean nothing or that I could care less about you then you can turn around and march out that door right now and do not set foot into this civiliized area again. Go out into the wilderness and take what this world gives to you. Guards get this man out of my sight." The two guards at the door come forward and will either follow Thomas out of the meeting or will drag him out of the hall bodily. If he resists a lot things will get rough.
Once Thomas is out of the hall the Lord will turn to the rest of you. "I think your friend eeds to have a wake up call. This is not earth. This is not some sweet easy going civilization at all. He does not have to risk his life like he has but he will earn his place or he will leave this place. There is no free ride here. You are doing a valuable service for me and that is earning your keep. IF Thomas questions my motives again he will no longer be welcome here. This meeting is at a end." HE nods to the guards as he walks out of the hall under escort.
