No doubt. With back to back [Critical Hit] fails he probably tripped right over whatever is out there. These embedded dice need to start rolling better. All I can say is out of all the games I've taken part in I have seen an extraordinary amount of [Critical Hit] fails rolled. Far more than nat 20's. .
I presume that based on the sparse description these are goblins/hobgoblins? (Right skin color, but if I recall right, bit tall for gobs, bit short for hobs) I also presume that since some out of character knowledge being used in character is weirdly enough a thing, at least some of us would be able to recognize the buggers without a K check? Making a general knowledge check here just in case.
To the rest, are we backing off to give the extra minute of prep I requested, or just going in?

I'm not sure about backing off. Can we stay in place? If we move again we may give away our position. I may be able to hold it together for s minute. The shock of a child being eaten, if I. An see that, would probably be pretty raw though.
EDIT I have no idea if Rachel could keep it together. This has to be an assault on her senses.

It doesn't sound like I can see them from my position.
If it is goblinoids, and you can relay the fact that it is goblinoids back to me, I should be able to manage much of what I had in mind without anyone moving.
If not, and you don't want to back off, it isn't critical, just an extra edge.
I would be inclined to be ready to burst in there like the wrath of god rather than risk any getting away though.
