Thomas, don't forget you get bonus spells per day from your casting ability modifier. A 4th level bard with 14 charisma gets 1 2nd level spell per day, not much, but not nothing.

You will know when you have the "Event" that gives you the items you need. Looking younger is just part of the transport to the world. You are still human and still have your memories but nothing else.

Query, Thalica and Be wondering if I would become an elf upon drinking one of those purple potions got me thinking. I rejected the offer because becoming something other than an elf was a far more likely outcome, but didn't reject the idea of changing.

There are other, less unpredictable, ways to achieve that end. Aside from the Wish spell, which is out of reach and dangerous to mess with, there is a ritual in the Savage Species book that allow a change in race, albeit at a cost that scales with the base ECL of the target race. But for ECL 1, like with normal elves, the cost is just 1000 xp, quite doable.

Would this ritual be something that can be divined and performed in this world, or would you prefer not to mess with it?

It can be done but it would cost you greatly. Drinking the purple potion while has inherent risks there is nothing saying that it would harm you much. There is no guarantee in anything *smile*

I will take a look at that process and get back to you on it.

I don't recall - were there more than just the purple potions that might change you into an elf? Such as potions for other races?

There were if I remember right four purple potions. They were described as changing the imbiber into one of a wide variety of races, even a goblin, with no way to predict the outcome before imbibing. It sounds like it might just be a reincarnation spell in a bottle, without the need to die first.

And no, I haven't had a chance to update the party resources sheet lately.

Yeah, random race? No thanks. Maybe if there was a way of determining or affecting the outcome before use, like by putting a drop of that race's blood in the potion before drinking?
