Sorry, I missed that all together as well as the bane. Frankly I was in a hurry to get my roll in before work and was skimming as fast as I could. If I had realized that was the plan, I would have thrown the stone for you instead of shooting off that first arrow before charging up.
I gotta ask this, how do I roll an 11 on the move silent check's die, a better than average roll, that made me fall over a branch and lose my action? It's been bugging me a lot and I've been kinda pre-occupied with that.

It always bothered me how move silent works. A group of 8 people trying to move silent against a large enough group, and there is 100% chance of failure. I used to rule that only the guards on the approach got the roll to listen, and that seemed more reasonable. Even so, if their listen scores are even average, anything under a 15 usually means you are detected. We are not thieves with high sneaky skills *smile*.
That is true but the main guards were not expecting you to be there just like you were not expecting them to be there. So with all of that I came up with a DC that was reasonable for everyone as their guards were not on high alert until some tripped and fell down.
There's still a difference in not being quiet enough to pass the challenge and what I can only describe as a botched roll as if I'd rolled a 1. At least that's the way I'm used to it. A failed roll would just be armor brushing up a brach in a way that clicks or a boot that doesn't clear the log and cracks off some bark. I accept that you are the Dungeon Master and I will accept your rulings but I also like to understand the expectations.
Well tripping may have been just a basic way to get across the reason they heard us. Maybe think that you just made too much noise in the bushes. Either way, I'd love some kind of layout of this battle so we can maneuver effectively. With tumble and 40' movement, I'd like to be more dynamic on the battlefield. Strategically place myself at the backs of bad guys, unexpectedly change targets, etc.
So are we good to move on yet, or are there still a few things to discuss? I'm just not sure if everything has been worked out yet.
