Super Hero No More

Most human comics features Heroes that try their best to be normal everyday people and 90% of them even seek to get rid of their powers somehow. Why does everyone (civilians / normal people) want to be one (Super Hero) when the Super Heroes do not care for it? How do you explain this?

I always want to be a super hero because its the opportunity to shine above everyone else. The power to change things for the good. No one thinks about the responsibility of having these extraordinary powers.

It is always nice to see a person who protects the innocent and the down trodden from all who would take advantage of them and harm them. Having a hero to look up to is always nice. I can see how many look forward to having someone they can believe in to help them in life. Super heroes will always be something people look up to.

Problems with having any manner of social life, problems with finding peace and quiet, being responsible for so many lives simply because none else are able, etc.

Lots of reasons for the allure of super powers to wear off after a while.

Super Hero No More

It's similar to fame and great wealth. Many that have them grow weary because they have no expectation of privacy and can't live a normal life. Most everyone else dreams of having those problems. Much of the super heroes not liking their powers or what comes with it are for dramatic purpose. Take Superman for example. If he is totally happy with everything then what tension does he have? If a villain doesn't have kryptonite he doesn't even breathe hard in winning.

Daishain, you are almost making an argument that super villains have it better than superheroes. Most of the issues you listed aren't experienced by the villains. They just really don't care.

Interesting take on that Kyrroeth. So super-villains, except for the conflicted ones, are better off than the super-heroes they battle. Yes, I can that. Particularly because they don't follow the same norms as the rest of us while super-heroes do.
