How common is Mining in Haiti? Are there many mining disasters?

What kind of mines (gold, diamond, coal, etc.) exist in Haiti?

Are there any established laws that regulate Haiti Miners, do they have a union?

Gold, diamonds and precious metals does exist in Haiti but a lot of these ill-accessed resources are not used by the people at all. It is said that back in 2012 they have enough valuable untouched metals to have an income of $20 billion dollars which is a guarantee of helping the locals out of poverty for good. I'm not so sure as to the mining process for those same areas that contains the metals are being addressed currently.
