The flag of Papua New Guinea was adopted in July 1, 1971. The yellow bird represents paradise, red and black as the nation's colors and the stars as the constellation of the Southern Cross.

Papua New Guinea Flag History & Civil Business Politics
What I like about Papua New Guinea's flag is the meaning that the flag has for it's citizenry. The colors seen in the flag (Black, red, and yellow) are the usual colors found in PNG Arts and Culture. The bird possesses a deep significance for them being an independent and free country. Source
