Afghanistan Military Tactics
What are the typical battle procedures for the military of Afghanistan? Consider both the historical and modern aspects of attack and defense for Afghanistan in overcoming the enemy. Has Afghanistan borrowed combat procedures from any historical encounters?
Afghanistan is country that has been occupied but has never really been conquered. Going back to the times of Alexander the Great, invading armies have entered Afghanistan and occupied her cities but have never conquered her people. The reason is because of Afghanistan's terrain and the battle tactics they use. They have developed tactics that use their mountainous terrain to their advantage. They conduct hit and run raids and then fade into the mountains. They use the myriad of cave complexes, which they know intimately, to help them escape. They are accomplished guerrilla fighters fighting in their backyard… and these are the hardest kind of fighters to beat without declaring total war on them.
