Update on N.J. Train crash: 1 person confirmed dead, train engineer critically injured
At least one person was killed and 108 people were injured Thursday when a New Jersey Transit commuter train slammed into the Hoboken station and crashed onto a concourse, authorities said. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said during a news conference Thursday that all the injured have been evacuated to local hospitals. Christie said the engineer driving the train was critically injured and is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said the train came into the station at too high a speed but authorities don't know yet why the crash happened. Ref. USAToday.
They said it was just an accident but the enormous 'explosion' people thought they heard probably made them think it was a terrorist attack. What I don't understand is the lack of controls to force fast trains to slow down.
