I could get behind that, it gets rid of both the risk on the one hand, and the spectacle on the other.

Yes plus the fact they are not shackled and being treated the same as other prisoners. You do not have transportation issues or the possible threat they can impose on the public or officers escorting them. Takes a lot of the risks away.

Do you know if any other states do the same thing? This seems so sensible and such a simple solution… which of course probably means no other states do it, it makes too much sense.

I do not know if any other states do this or not. I do not think all of Iowa does it but it is a very effective system and more states, counties and cities should do this.

Yes, I agree with you. This makes it safer for everyone involved, including the defendant. I don't see a down side to this.

I think that is why the part of the state I am in has gone to it. Safer for everyone and no five point shackles. I always hated putting those five point shackles on prisoners and it made it hard for them to move too. Yeah this way is much better.
