It is sad that something like this happens and then the hateful insults are thrown back and forth. I think the news media and social media is doing all it can to make a greater divide in this nation rather than bringing it closer together. I know that when a person feels justified to carry a shooting out like this because they are believed to be on the other side we are as a nation in trouble.
The disagreements have always been there also the bickering too but these are one or two out of hundreds of millions of people. For me this is more about mental troubles than political rants from politicians or social media. They are just more popular because we are in the info age.

The disagreements have always been there but it is worse now. Social media and the 24 news cycle makes it worse as well. Some people just marinate in this hatred continually. If the other party is destroying America and are Nazi's then wouldn't violent means be justified in some people's minds? I saw some statements by people on the far left that said he deserved it, that more of them need this etc. This is beyond dangerous for this nation. It's no longer agree to disagree. It's now we will destroy anyone who disagrees with us. They shouldn't even be allowed to speak. It's echoes of fascism which has inherent violence.
What makes me go hmm.. Is the timing of this just when the GOP and Trump are taking heat for the Russian meddling. It sure does bring a lot of sympathy and takes away the focus of the investigation from the media.

There is always that possibility, but faking an attempted assassination is an extremely risky thing, especially if the shooter you use didn't die. Too many ways for it to come out and earn far worse than a few rumblings about russia There is also always the chance that your patsy is more successful than anticipated and you lose a lot of people.
It seems more likely that this is what it appears to be, someone took their… discontent too far. Edited: daishain on 15th Jun, 2017 - 5:12pm
There is no conspiracy here. This guy has been on the far left for decades. What, all of a sudden he decided it'd be a good idea to shoot a Republican leader in Congress to help the party he hates. No, this is simply playing into the narrative that the far right and far left try to sell. And I have to say, the term marinating in hate is exactly right. There was a time when we received fair news with no opinion sprinkled in. You didn't even know the politics of the people reporting. And because of that, we all had a central truth to make decisions from.
Now, Breitbart puts out one truth. MSNBC puts out a different truth. And they are both about the same subject. That is one thing President Obama said that is spot on, we have to at least agree on a starting point for truth and then if we have fundamental philosophical differences about how to fix things we can at least talk about it since we have the same base. Now, it's like one side is talking in Greek and the other side In Mandarin and the Greeks are discussing philosophy while those speaking Mandarin are discussing engineering.
