This is well written and well thought out. Yeah, they support the Muslim Brotherhood, but they also house our forward deployed elements of US Central Command. They try to be the moderators over there and so far have managed to navigate the minefield. I think they support all the groups they do so they can have contact with them in the event they need to be mediators. And they do the mediating for future opportunities and to garner favors.
