Chrysler told to prepare to file for bankruptcy

The Treasury Department is directing Chrysler to prepare a Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing as soon as next week, people with direct knowledge of the talks said yesterday. The company faces a deadline of April 30 to come up with a viable business plan supported by its creditors, the United Auto Workers union and Fiat, the Italian car company that wants to acquire a stake in Chrysler. I feel that this is something that should have happened months ago and not something that should have used taxpayer money to prolong what was needed back then.

Well it is official now, but the company will not disappear. Chrysler has history in the USA and also a strong hold in Canada so many concessions have been made to help them restructure. Question is... Will you keep buying their cars? Pres. Obama said that they would back the waranties of Chrysler, but he also charged the new Chrysler to make more fuel efficnt cars.

I think Ralph needs to stay out of it. Chrysler is in bankruptcy and the company needs to sit back and take a good look as it restructures itself to a profitable company again.

I wonder if any of the dealerships it is closing are around me. I would hate to see more out of work in my area that is getting close to 8% unemployment.
