Have you ever donated your blood to a Blood Bank? Did you do it for someone specific or just in general? Did you get a gift or something to drink after?
Yes I donate blood regularly and it isn't because of the chocolate chippie biscuits or the juice and chocolate candy that they have for me after! I donated blood because I'd like to think that there are people out there who would do the same if I needed it in a hurry. It is a general donation, done twice a year!
Man donates blood for record 350th time

I would actually love to give for the sake of helping others and the feelings one get's when making a difference in the world.
Although, and this probably sounds completely selfish: I get very light headed and pass out each time I get a needle. It drives me crazy, I loose all 5 senses and then just black out. I should just put up with it and donate as I would like to, but it's always that feeling right before I'm about to get a needle, and the memories of past experiences that turns me away.
I have promised myself I will stop being such a "Cry-baby" about it and do it atleast once the next time the blood bank comes into our town though! I'm always trying to find ways to help others, and if it means going through a little torture it will only make me stronger!
Anyone who can give blood and feel confident doing it, I highly encourage you too! .

That is very interesting and really does show the importance that all able bodied people should be donating blood.
I know some people can not for various reasons, passing out at the sight of a needle is a very good one. My wife seldom can due to low iron levels.
I give regular and though they offer the cookies ect I never take them. Just want to get going is why. You Hamilton Tiger cats CFL foot ball team donates family tickets to their games. Many local garages donate free oil change car cleaning and such to help draw people in. My work place allows us to donate on company time which is very kind of them.
I give because almost every one in my mothers family has had operations and some one gave for them so I like to think I am just giving back what I already have benefited from.
Besides I get my pulse and blood pressure checked on a regular basis! *Puts no stroke zone sticker on his forehead*.
I can't donate blood. I used to travel a lot on mission trips when I was in high school and you generally have to wait 3 years after you last visited a banned country to give again. I waited and in college tried to donate blood, but almost passed out during and then felt like absolute crap for the next week. I tried to donate one more time a year later assuming it was a fluke and the same thing happened. I have been to a cardiologist since then and it seems I don't have much blood to spare and my heart pump slowly and not super strong so any drop in pressure actually sends my body into a tailspin. I have been told not to give blood unless I really needed to (For a family member or something).
