What are some of the local stories of myth that are popular in Germany that are often told within Germany literature are recited by Germany children?

Stories Mythic Literary Germany
Well, this is where the Brother's Grimm come from so clearly this is one place to start a discussion about German literary mythic stories. I they were born in either the late 1700s or early 1800s and their works are from the 1800s. Some of the ones that I can think of offhand are Hansel and Gretel, Rumpelstiltskin, and Sleeping Beauty. I think Rapunzel and Snow White were theirs too. I know they published many of these in children's books.
