If the guy who invented DNA fingerprinting is worried, we should all be
Why should I, an innocent citizen, object to the State having my precious DNA on its database? What have I to fear? Am I 'against justice', as Harriet Harman ludicrously accused anyone with doubts about a centralised DNA database of being? Ref. Source 5
I think that if you have a criminal data base of DNA that is as far as it should go. Once you have been convicted of a crime you are required to give your DNA. This way innocent civilians are not giving their DNA and they do not stay in a data base. This will help protect the innocents. I have no problem with the police collecting a DNA sample to solve a case. But one that case is solved all DNA is destroyed. This will ensure that those who are innocent do not have their DNA on file.
Computer operating system and short movie stored on DNA
An algorithm designed for streaming video on a cellphone can unlock DNA's nearly full storage potential by squeezing more information into its four base nucleotides, say researchers. They demonstrate that this technology is also extremely reliable. Ref. Source 8y.
This is absolutely fascinating. How far we've come in a relatively short time. When I was in high school I learned Fortran and the computer we used was huge. Now, I have a computer on my wrist. One day I believe we'll have computers implanted in us. There is a song called In the Year 2525 by a duo called Zagar and Evans… we are getting close to this song's lyric.
