Food Bandits
Well, with the prices of groceries going up on a daily basis I am not surprised in the least....

BANDITS have been robbing the Jumbo Foods Supermarket in Barataria so often that it has actually been making a dent in profits.
The "shopping list" includes meats, cheese, alcohol and snacks, mainly chocolate. Rice and flour are stolen as well, but not as much as the other items.
Employees of the supermarket are afraid to challenge the food bandits as most of them share residential space with the same people who rob their place of employment.
The latest incident was yesterday morning between 11 a.m. And noon.
The four bandits were scattered throughout the grocery. One picked up a bottle of scotch, apparently to distract the lone security guard on duty at the time as it is a relatively small but high priced item.
The other three are believed to have either entered with their own Jumbo Foods shopping bags which they pilfer from the check out lane.
Laden with the food items they dashed out of the supermarket.
They were spotted by the lone security officer who ordered them to stop. Instead they threatened to "dun him" if he tried to apprehend them. The four bandits only fled when a police van arrived on the scene.
They headed into the Malick area and remained at large up to press time last night.
A distraught Kumar Maharaj, chief executive officer of Jumbo Foods (no affiliation with the other Jumbo Foods in south Trinidad), yesterday described what has been happening as becoming, "a profession in this country".
"I predicted early last year that this year when the rice was in short supply that this thing would happen," he said. ...
