Glockos Introduction

Looking at the ROK website, I'm very hopeful that this is the solution to my Role-playing Game malaise. I've been a very detail orientated gamer and have been unable to find any Dungeon Master since 2004 due to my specific requirements. As a player, I'm the explorer (75%) and character actor (25%) and I sketch and write POV notes on everything. Dungeon Master's can't handle my intensity levels… I'm aspie… it shows painfully… as a Dungeon Master, I'm the worldbuilder (70%) and connector (30%) who issues lots of artfully crafted prose, descriptions of items, npc's and combat scenes based on 12 years of actual sword combat practice with real weapons. Written a novel for each of my old friends, detailing their pc's pathway through a homebrew world where we use the 2nd edition AD&D system as a foundation, modified heavily by tweaks. The last one was called Ulfsdrottnir (Wolf Queen) set in the broken kingdom of Saerad on Glofeyne. That was about my wife's Shieldmaiden character Freydis Osricsdottir. We game once every weekend for about four or five hours though we have lots of ideas, it's been very difficult to find any players who want something other than a hack 'n slash dungeon crawl, which I find mindless and haphazard. At the moment I'm using Zim wiki to build a huge linked database of all the aspects of my hobby, meshing together pbm, novels, game notes, character sheets, scenario, items, the lot. Hopefully there might be some friends here for me that share the love of detail orientated Role-playing Game. Many thanks for reading and hope to share some interesting stuff soon!

Greetings, as someone more invested in the play by post section of these forums than ROK, I invite you to poke around there a bit, see if something appeals.

Fair warning, while none of the games being run there are purely hack'n'slash, it sounds like they're more action oriented than you prefer.

Feel free to offer an alternative, we could use some fresh perspective in the GM pool around here. .

Yes, as Daishain said, we need something along the lines that you are describing for those of us that like the story as much or more than the hack and slash. Although, I think we have a couple pretty good story campaigns going on now and Daishain is Dungeon Mastering one of them… he's just modest. But again, there are many here that prefer to role play rather than role play. Welcome and take some time and look around, maybe play for a time and then start a game of your own.
