When the story first broke I was actually wondering if there is new enemy technology at work here. I will like to see what the investigation reveals before making further comments.

Commander of U.S. Pacific Fleet says remains of Navy sailors were found in a compartment of USS John McCain. The discovery comes after collision tore a gaping hole in the McCain's left rear hull and flooded adjacent compartments including crew berths and machinery and communication rooms. The destroyer is now docked at Singapore's naval base. Ref. USAToday.

Yeah, one would expect something like this to cause a number of deaths. That's a big whole torn into the ship's side and would cause immediate and catastrophic flooding. Anyone in the flooded compartments wouldn't have much of chance of getting out with zero warning.

Okay, that means they are deadly serious about this, and they should be. I can't ever remember in my life anything like this happening twice so close together in time. That'll send a chill down the USN rank structure that anyone can get fired. It's about time high ranking officers be held accountable. For far too long they would get a slap on the wrist for the same thing enlisted men and women would go to Leavenworth for. This is unacceptable.

Yes there needs to be a change in the leadership if we are getting so lax as to allow ships get struck by civilian ships. I think some others should be held accountable too such as who was on watch to see that nothing was coming within threat range of the ship. I think some serious retraining needs to be done.
