Okay, I am going to put this out to the group, and the Dungeon Master, and ask for their thoughts. Right now I am wavering back and forth between a Ranger, sort of a hunter/scout, from a Germanic tribe, who mostly uses a bow, Archery specialist. And that is after finally looking at the Revised Ranger and seeing they have given the Animal Companion some teeth back ().
I have also been thinking about a Rogue, but Tanis indicated he was working on a Rogue, though obviously with the wrong edition. I have not seen much more from him.
Both characters intrigue me, and I will not be disappointed whichever I use. But I am firm believer that Rogues are practically indispensable, and I want us to have one. But I also don't like stealing the spotlight/thunder from someone who obviously wants to play a rogue. I have played so many rogues over the years (Easily my favorite class of all time) that if someone else wants the part, I am all for it. It's a blast to frequently be a critical part of a plan, and have things revolve around you. But since I've done that often, I really like others to get that thrill.
So I am asking the other players to chime in with their thoughts. Do you want to definitely have a Rogue? Do you not care either way? If Tanis is still working on a rogue, Tanis, what type of rogue? And please folks, don't just tell me to play what I want. I genuinely want to hear what you think about what the party might need. Thank you in advance.
Okay, I will answer you with a few different paths. First, having a Rogue will be important at times, and far less so at other times. A lot of this campaign will take place out of doors. Second, another Ranger would be a great addition to the party because it is largely an outside adventure. But I'd like to leave you with it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a bard in the group… one who could be the ambassador.

To be honest, we have a lot of the bases covered so far, so it really is a case of play which character you prefer. That being said, I haven't seen too many Rogues played "Properly" in 5e and would love to see your experienced take on that class. So if I "Had" to pick one of the two for you to play, I would opt for Rogue, for purely selfish reasons *wink*.
Tanis, I'd rather not that be the decision. I would be okay with two rogues. For instance you could play one version, say the Arcane Trickster, while I played one of the others, like Assassin or Thief. And since Ninja strongly hinted that we could use a bard, I am also mulling that over. Regardless I will wait for several other players to voice their thoughts before making a final call.
So players, please also voice thoughts regarding a bard.
