Briadia races along hoping to catch up to the women and children soon. Nearing the one armed with the bow he smiles and retreats. Running now even faster if possible she is rapidly gaining on him when he disappears. She races right past where he was and there is simply nothing. Briadia cries out in frustration. She failed those innocents. The Amazon had not disposed of her enemy quickly enough to rescuer them. Athena only knew where they where now. Arcad races up behind her with blood dripping down his snout." We failed Arcad. They are no longer here." Her shoulders slump." What kind of foul thing was this?"

Calling upon other powers that she recently acquired she concentrates upon any humanoids in the area. She focuses all her attention upon this for a minute. Arcad senses her distraction and walks around her watching in all directions. He senses her anger and roars in anger.

Out of Character: : She will her use her primeval awareness ability. Concentrating for 1 minute she will be able to determine how many humanoids are within 5 miles of her, their direction and general distance. She is hoping to find some trace of the missing women and children.

Briadia concentrates and the only creatures she notes are a few miles off in the direction of Thebes. The foulness and stench she feels, yes she feels the stench, nearly overwhelms her senses. It literally staggers her. There are thousands of the creatures located around Thebes. They are broken into four large groups, each set up to help in the siege of the city.

Then as she meditates she senses their numbers growing less. She senses these creatures actually lessening, the evilness and wrongness becoming less. Concentrating hard, sweat appearing on her forehead, she can feel that each group is becoming slowly smaller, the stench of them simply disappearing.

Manos continues to drag the man behind him, heading in the general direction of Briadia; completely ignoring Brathark's words.

After a minute he replies, his voice ripe with anger; "This man doesn't get a choice. He's alive solely for this purpose. If he survives and lives the rest of his life, then it is the blessings of the Gods; but right now his life belongs to those women and children. Make sure to bring his friend."

Without another word he drags the soldier into the woods.

The light bearer says...

Responding to Brathark, Photokles speaks up, "I must agree with Manos. We came to their aid to get their help in the upcoming fray with the ones taking the hostages." The priest of Helios looks off to the horizon, "We could have left them all to die and used our skills to free the women and children," he turns back to the Athenians, "But we didn't! There may be but two of you, but there'd be NONE of you if it weren't for us! Now, in the name of the gods, ready yourselves for we aren't finished yet!"

Photokles turns his mule and begins to head off in the direction of Briadia. As he passes Brathark, the priest has a few words just so only he and Brathark can hear,

"This is no time for softness. We expended valuable time rescuing just these two. To allow them the 'choice' to not accompany us would appear as if we came here for nothing. Once we free the women and children from those other beasts WITH these Athenians, then they can complete their mission, but not before. You should consider how you wish to be viewed if you wish to maintain this leadership role… "

The priest of the sun god then kicks his mule to take up a fast pace toward Briadia, yelling over his shoulder, "Sons of Athens, make haste! The gods do not favor those who hesitate when presented with action!"

The Short End says...

As soon as the last of the creatures is felled Tellias is sprinting back to his mule, not taking the time to assess the current situation or their successes and failures within it. Not even taking the time to clean his doyu from the blood of these foul beings. No there is only one thing in his mind… to get to the Amzonian and rescue those innocents!

He springs onto the back of his mount, as he hears, but pays no attention to, the words being exchanged behind him. To him there is nothing to discuss, all of them should now be heading to aid Briadia in the North with all haste, including those they had saved. Anything else was a betrayal to Briadia and those women and children, and he wasn't about to do that. Then he is gone, fast speeding towards the aid of those in the North, urging his mule to move with all it's might.

Out of Character: Animal handling check to try and get the most speed out of his mule as possible.

Briadia is sickened by the sense of evil that she senses nearby. Thebes is in great danger of falling. Suddenly the presence of her enemies begins to diminish. The enemies surrounding Thebes are disappearing somehow.

She knows that her companions should be safe now as she can sense no enemies in their direction." Arcad… come here." She had forgotten about her friend with the battle going on. Briadia can see where he was stabbed on one great leg. She reaches out and summons the forces of nature. Healing seeps into him from her hand. Arcad is able to put weight on his injured leg without limping.

Briadia then returns to searching for any sign of the captives. She knows that they are gone but refuses to give up hope.

As the Athenian being pulled finally gets his legs under him he breaks free of Manos' grip. They then stand shoulder to shoulder. The other one says, "We were given a mission by Athens. It was your choice to rescue us. For that we gave thanks. Now it is our duty to report to Athens. This is our choice and our duty. The Spartans should know of duty. We shall go to Athens." Even though they are each hurt to some degree and vastly outnumbered, they raise their shields.

As the scene with the Athenians unfolds Kria appears overhead. Swooping down at great speed she lands on Telymas' shoulder. She tells of the scene that unfolded and of Briadia's battle. She relates its aftermath as well.

As Briadia refocuses her concentration looking for the hostages she realizes the creatures outside of Thebes are receding in numbers quickly. Then she focuses her attention as she gets a familiar feeling and she senses the large creature with the bow that was just in front of her, then it too is simply gone. Pictures of its sneering face fill her mind.

Out of Character: Okay, careful moving my NPCs around without rolls. They aren't chairs to be picked up and moved. You should have at least rolled a Grapple check. The same when you try to influence them. Make a Persuasion roll.

Elymas is already riding north when Kria arrives with her report. His shoulders slump, then he stops and calls out, "Manos, Photokles, let them go home. The prisoners are now beyond our reach. Come on, Briadia is okay, but we should reunite and investigate."

Elymas will continue to describe what occurred according to his familiar.
