Charlottesville mayor: One person dead after car crashes into crowd at white supremacist rally. "I am heartbroken that a life has been lost here," Charlottesville mayor Mike Signer tweeted Saturday after violence erupted at a white nationalist rally in Virginia. Ref. USAToday.
Just like I have said before it takes two sides to fight. IT sounds like many people from both sides came there to fight and fight they did. Both sides were wrong and both sides were right. Everyone should have the right to believe as they believe. IT does not mean that others should beat them just because they think different. How hard is it to get along with each other and let some of our different thinking cement us together as a group instead of one side telling the others they are totally wrong and beating them into submission. Hell if that is the case we are in for a very interesting civil war here.
I am finding more and more interesting stuff about this protest in Charlotteville. It seems the press was attacked by the left side for trying to film their counter protest. The city of Charlotteville tried to revoke the right sides peaceful permit to demonstrate but did nothing to try and stop the left side who had no permit and were purposely blocking entry to the park that the right side had a permit to march to. The barricades they requested to assist their protest were never set up. I think this violent uprising by the left side was allowed by the city government. Having people in positions of power who allowed the left side to have their way and be violent while speaking out against the right side shows that we are in a war now and the left is being handed a free pass to beat the right out of their beliefs and thus free speech from the right is no longer free. I think we are beginning to lose one of the most important freedoms that we possess.
Flawed law enforcement plan failed to prevent injury, death at violent Charlottesville protests. Inadequate planning and breakdowns in communication between state and local police resulted in injuries and death at an August white nationalist rally that erupted in violence when protesters and counter-protesters clashed in the streets. "This represents a failure of one of government's core functions - the protection of fundamental rights," reads the 220-page report from Timothy Heaphy, a former U.S. Attorney who reviewed the protest for the town's city council. "Law enforcement also failed to maintain order and protect citizens from harm, injury and death." Ref. USAToday.
