Yeah Maria exploded into a major hurricane almost over night using the very warm waters around the islands. Just a week after Irma went through we are dealing with another very strong and powerful system that may set its eyes on the eastern coast of Florida now.
Yeah, it is going to absolutely slam into Puerto Rico. I fear for all the people there. I hope they heed the warnings they've been receiving. The tracks I've been seeing of later look to be taking it away from the US coast after hitting PR. If that is the case we'll have dodged a bullet. If not and the forecasts are wrong, think this will reintensify after hitting PR in the warm waters that Irma travelled and wherever it goes it will be ugly.
FEMA admits it drastically underestimated damage Hurricane Maria unleashed on Puerto Rico in island's worst ever natural disaster. In a report released Thursday, FEMA said its planning in the region during the 2017 hurricane season was incomplete, did not adequately account for the possibility of multiple major disasters in a short amount of time and underestimated the impact of "Insufficiently maintained infrastructure" in Puerto Rico. The report follows widespread criticism of the agency's handling of the 2017 hurricane season, particularly its response to Hurricane Maria, which devastated Puerto Rico, knocking out power to virtually the entire U.S. Territory of more than 3 million people.
