Pennies may soon be a thing of the past!
He rarely carries pennies because "they take up a lot of room for how much value they have." Instead, like so many other Americans, he dumps his pennies into a bucket back home in Sarasota, Fla.

I think that they will soon have pennies out of circulation. I know where I live, people can't be bothered with them and just throw them on the floor.
I put loose pennies in a big plastic money bottle .
My Grandma always taught me to "look after the pennies, the pounds will look after themselves".
I didn't really understand that concept until years later, but it is true, those tiny loose pennies can soon mount up into a decent amount. Last year out of our money bottle we got around $150 to treat ourselves with.

I have thrown away a few pennies in my lifetime, like when I clean my car and there's a stray penny, I'll just vacuum it right up.
Inflation does have much to do with people viewing the penny as worthless.
Someday folks might be saying the same thing about nickels
They are a nuisance. The local banks stop circulating them but some place still give them back as change and I always refuse it.
