Mailmeharry Wants A Game Engine

Hello,

I want to be a game master for a game named as Almightoronia. First of all I am new here and not sure how to create my game here even after reading the guides… maybe as there is not any step-by-step kind of tutorial. Also I had difficulty in understanding dice systems. But I am sure with the help of experienced people here I can do this. So here I am posting my idea for the game. I don't know if multiple game masters for one game are allowed or not, but if its allowed I will welcome anybody who has knowledge to accomplish this task and is interested in my listed idea below. Also as it requires more than one interested player to be a game master, I would welcome the players to review this and be the future player in this game.

ALMIGHTORONIA - Almightoronia is a huge cosmos, with endless universes, galaxies, solar systems, stars, comets, asteroids, black holes, planets, continents, countries, oceans, states, cities and villages.

Initially there is only 1 universe, 3 galaxies in it, 5 solar systems in each galaxies, 7 planets in each solar system, and 9 continents in each of the planet, 11 countries in each continent, 15 states in each country, 3 cities and 10 villages in each state. Further addition/modification/deletion is also possible. Countries may split up too, states can be divided too as per game play (Due to wars, internal revolts).

The most unique thing I want to put up in this game is the grouping based on registration system. Like say today 10 people joined Almightoronia, all 10 will be grouped in one village. Thus by default a village gets created near a city (Randomly generated name or as per players wish). So a chain like village < city < state < country < continent < planet < solar system < galaxy < universe is formed for that group.. On next day a new village will be created up to a maximum of 10 days.

The registration process and assignment of village, city, country etc. Will be looked by me personally so as not to keep people too far away that they can't even meet up during their game play.

Game is mix up of various genres - simulation, strategy and Role-playing Game. Trading, fights, wars, dungeon hunting, player killing (PKing should not forced, can be turned off by players setting, but once turned can only be turned on after death and while playing next character), arenas, hall of fame, clans, chatting, farming, mining, fishing and all sorts of skills. And mostly everything is done by real game players. NPCs are there, but they have only role for balancing the game, and providing good stories and quests for the players. Players can issue quests too, they can create their own chain quests as well for development of a story.

Players can even become village chief, city mayor, state minister, country's king, continent ruler, planet monarch, solar system owner, galaxy owner, Universe Emperor, or even multiple universes emperor.

Life span of every player is random from 30 - 100 years. Life span doesn’t matter in case of PKing, or other natural death cases like killed by monster or npc, killed by hunger, thirst, disease etc. Its not game over after death as there is marriage system as well in game. You can give birth to kids as well. There is legacy system too, like once you are dead you can control your child. Children are usually born with enhanced or inherited skills from father. His stats will be half to his parent at the time of birth. Although he can’t be controlled unless parent dies. If you are unfortunate enough to not get married, then you have to start over at 0 stats. Its like restarting your game. However you keep all earned gold with you, so you can progress fast as compared to your previous life. However as usually said, married life is not easy, you will get daily quests from your wife and children. Children are limited to two per character. Elder child is controlled first, and in case of his death only, the younger child will be playable and that too only if elder brother didn’t get married before death or died when his children are below the age of 20. Otherwise his own children are given preference for control, rather than brother.

Registration for game as a player requires just these -- username, password, gender, age and email.

Game won’t have wiki but inbuilt tutorial by easy initial quests as mentioned in the game story. My philosophy as gamer says, Games are meant to play not to study.

Game Settings have one important feature PVP option. By default it is turned off, and its changeable only once per character.

For Hall of fame or rankings, players will be ranked on all levels - village, city, country etc…. So that low rank players don’t get discouraged….

As I am unfamiliar with dice system I am writing the default stats manually here -

Character Name - "Chosen by user",
Character Level - 1,
Age - 16,
Experience Bar - 0/100 for Level 2,
Gold - 10,
HP - 100/100,
Food Belly - 50/100,
Water Belly - 30/100,
Hygiene - 70/100,
Strength - 1,
Defense - 1,
Speed - 1,
Village Fame - 0,
Global Fame - 0,
Global Location - Array [Village < City < State < country < continent < planet < solar system < galaxy < universe]
Current Location - X axis, Y axis [10x10 Village]

*These stats are not final. More stats will be added like say if player chose a profession of Miner, he will get mining skill. Further when a player becomes citizen of a city then he will get City Fame stat as well. So stats can be created/modified/deleted during game play, as per the users choices made during game.

NOTE - Listed stuff is flexible. There can be changes made in the stuff written above as per the players wishes.

Engine Game Wants Mailmeharry

You have big plans. The games here use a method called play by post which means you play as a character and put that character's actions in a post just like how you and I did. Check the Dungeons & Dragons board for games going on so you can see what they look like. Plus I would [seriously] recommend joining an existing game to see how it works.

Let me jump in here to echo Wizard's words. I've been playing Role-playing Games for a long time and Dungeon Mastering for much of that time. But I participated as a player for half a year before I started my own game here. Perhaps you should do the something similar, get some experience with the system here, show that you are consistent, and then go from there.

I'm not saying you need a whole half a year like me, but you should spend a bit of time getting used to things, like the dice. After a few sessions and you'll have the dice mastered. Then you can use them when you start your own game.

Mailmeharry, it looks like you are looking for an investor (Time or money) to build a script that runs your game and this site does not facilitate this. If you have a budget in the thousands then I can create your game on your own site.

As explained by the above Posters this site uses the already built in method (Text Role-playing Game Character Creator) to create games based on writing so Game Masters can run their own.

We do have custom codes here for our own in-house game ROK II, but it is not a game that allows you to code your own method. What you need to do is either learn how to code and create your own game or look for a script engine you can purchase that can be somewhat modified to meet your needs. Even so, you are better off learning how to code as no engine will ever solve a project's requirements.

Thanks for reply JB. I was exactly doing what you said earlier looking for coder, and as I said in my intro I lacked funds, my budget was very low for 100 dollars. So I gave up and instead started writing my game on [..] due to discouragement. Unfortunately I can't post it here due to links restriction.

Its been just 2 days since I started writing when I accidentally came across google search for RoK game and found that games can be created by play by post too. And exactly I feel that it is perfect engine for my game. I am playing RoK as well to understand system. But it may take lots of time to learn by playing that game.

Thats why I feel I can do same here, so I am not looking for a coder now, I am looking for someone familiar with the game system here, who can act as an assisstant game master with me for this game.

I am the coder for ROK II and like I said, I did not create the game so others can create their own game, in fact, in no place within ROK II does it say that. ROK II enables a Player to create their own story and play in a Medieval Fantasy world without the need of a Dungeon Master because the game's 'intelligence' and myself acts as the Dungeon Master.

In any case, I will be bringing on my own Science Fiction Role-playing Game in the future at Future Terra II Science Fiction Text Role-Playing Game and I do not need to partner with anyone to accomplish this. Since you do not have the budget to meet what you want to do I suggest either joining current games and simply enjoy yourself or look elsewhere for someone to build your game as it will not happen here.

I am also locking this Thread as this has been explained many times both via your Introduction and here.
