I think that chief needed to be out of a job. There is no need for name calling in this "Take the knee" controversy that is gripping this nation. I know the media is playing it up quite nicely too. One has to wonder about why and what they are trying to hide.

Either way the chief of the volunteer fire department was wrong for what he said and how he said it. IT is everyone's right to protest peacefully no matter how others view it.

I agree with you. [By The Way], it was the fire chief's right to write what he wrote and it was the department's right to fire him for it. Just like it is these pampered millionaire coddled football players right to take a knee and the right of an organization to fire them for it if they feel it reflects poorly on the organization. Unfortunately, none of these teams have the guts to do that and to stand up for the values that this country became great under nor for the men and women who fought and died for the country that flag they are disrespecting represents.

Yes it was his right to write what he did but the name calling of black people was not needed in his position. That term is derogatory and can incite violence from the African-American culture. I think anyone using that term is not a good person no matter their skin color. I think it is this name that caused his firing.

Again, I absolutely agree with you. What I was saying is he had the right to say it and his employer had the right to fire him. That is what gets lost regarding the football players. The right to express your opinion does not protect you from the ramifications of doing so. The media is up in arms about the right of the football players to take a knee. The media is correct but that right does not protect them from being fired. Just like this fire chief was fired for expressing his misguided opinion.
