Yes we have made jokes during a combat or even some combat maneuvers as a way to help relieve some of the stress and other pucker factors that occur during this high stressful time. This helps a person relax some and look at things a bit different so the possibility of over looking something because your so stressed is lessened.

When you're too stressed you don't think right. Cracking a small joke here and there relaxes you some so you can function better but it should never be so often that you lose focus on your objective. Timing is everything.
