From Trisha Van Berkel, a very special definition of Autism:
QUOTE "Autism is not a puzzle, nor a disease. Autism is a challange [sic], but certainly not a devistating [sic] one.
Autism is about having a pure heart and being very sensitive"¦ It is about finding a way to survive in an overwhelming, confusing world"¦ It is about developing differently, in a different pace and with different leaps.
Autistic beings develop and bloom if their spirits, talents and self-esteem are not destroyed by bullies, prejudice, "Doggie-training", and being forced to be "Normal"."

Special needs children can be put down or made to believe that they can do it:
QUOTE Two little boys were playing on the ice in the winter time. As they got further onto the ice the ice got thinner and one of the little boys fell threw the ice and got trapped under it. The little boy that was on top of the ice was trying to reach and save his friend but he couldn't reach him and was trying to break the ice. So he looked around saw a tree in the distance. So he ran to the tree got up on the tree. He started to pull and broke down and enormous size branch. Picked up the branch and ran back to his friend. He then savagely started beating the ice and broke it. And saved his friend. When the paramedics arrived to revive the little boy. They were baffled trying to figure out how a little boy his size broke off this huge branch from this tree and then came back to beat and break the ice to save his friend. They thought it was miraculous and they said it was impossible for a boy of that age to do that. Then a old man approached them and said, "I can tell you how he did it." Then the paramedic asked, "Yes, please tell us...how did he do it?" The old man said,"There was no one around to tell him that he couldn't do it."
