Border mayhem

Have you ever wondered what happens when bullets pierce borders? We can tell you this much: Nothing good. The United States and Mexico are on opposite sides of another international incident now that a U.S. Border Patrol agent from the San Diego sector has shot and wounded a Mexican man who was hurling rocks at the agent. When the man was shot, he was on Mexican soil.

Hiring practices questioned after border agent's arrest

Marcos Manzano Jr.'s career as a U.S. Border Patrol agent ended in January with his arrest on charges of harboring illegal immigrants at his San Ysidro house. Another border agent railroaded by government?

Glenn interviewed the wife of now convicted border agent Jesus Diaz about the case that seems to bear resemblance to the Compean & Ramos ordeal. What'd Diaz do? He 'roughed up' a suspected drug runner who was caught with other illegals bringing 150 pounds of marijuana across the border from Mexico into the US. He claims his innocence and the suspect has no visible marks from the so-called 'rough handcuffing'. Ref. Source 7

This week's fatal shooting of a Border Patrol agent and the wounding of another was likely the result of friendly fire, the FBI said Friday.

"While it is important to emphasize that the FBI's investigation is actively continuing, there are strong preliminary indications that the death of United States Border Patrol Agent Nicholas J. Ivie and the injury to a second agent was the result of an accidental shooting incident involving only the agents," said James Turgal, special agent in charge of the FBI's Phoenix division.

The agents came under fire Tuesday near Naco, Arizona, after responding to a sensor that had gone off nearby. Ref. CNN
