If they can manage to do this at a low cost that can make some cheap fuel our energy crisis may be over. With abundant water and CO2 I am sure that we will have a self reproducing energy supply that will take up into the future and have much less pollution in the air.
This is actually an area I do research in. I am helping to find catalysts that promote this reaction, so it can become an efficient (In time, energy, and money) process. They focused on one class of materials (So called Vanadates) and I am trying to search a broader space. They were able to get their results rather quickly, but mine will probably take much longer time. I always find it fascinating to see what others are doing.
Yes I have a scientific mind but some of the research in things like this are a little above me. I always like to read the papers on the process and how they are doing all of this. I think getting away from fossil fuels is what we need to move further ahead in the world.
